Welcome!

Thanks for visiting doctorhagen.com for OB/GYN information.Whether you are a patient, a family member, or just someone who is trying to get some more information abour our medical practice we would like to welcome you to our web site.

Women are more interested in protecting and preserving their health today than at any time in our history, and we are pleased to offer a comprehensive health topics.

I made the decision to specialize in women’s health for several reasons. I wholeheartedly believe in treating the whole woman...because it is impossible to separate the physical, psychological and spiritual components into separate health components.

Another reason I chose a field in women's health is I wanted to participate in the many exciting advances in preventive care, and to help women of all ages overcome the myths and misinformation of the past and present so that they can concentrate on being healthy and fit. At no time in history has there been more readily available information and yet many of these sources serve more to confuse than to educate.

I believe in being proficient in the emerging technologies now available to help relieve some health problems such as abnormal bleeding as well as providing for new contraceptive and sterilization procedures. As of October 10, 2005 we now have a Live 3D ultrasound in our office! Not only does it allow us to provide mothers with captivating pictures, but it also adds a new dimension in diagnosing fetal abnormalities.

After surveying the central Texas area, I noted the rapid growth in the Bastrop and surrounding areas. Realizing that the majority of patients wanted to deliver their babies in Austin, I chose to relocate to the Bastrop area. I am currently the only Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologist who has an office in Bastrop that has privileges to deliver babies in Austin. Now that my family lives in Bastrop, I can fully appreciate having access to medical care without having to drive to Austin.

Since an Obstetrician can realistically only deliver at one hospital, I chose St. David's Hospial in downtown Austin. St. David's has always had a reputation of excellence in their care of high risk pregnancies, as well as other medical care for the community.

As a physician and surgeon, I believe that the best patient-doctor relationships are based on mutual trust, respect, and a candid exchange of ideas and information. We therefore welcome and encourage our patients’ questions and comments because they are critical to our ability to provide the quality of care that you expect and deserve.

It will not be possible, of course, to individually answer all the e-mails that a health site like this one can generate. Besides, a web site -- however well-intentioned -- cannot possibly substitute for a visit with your physician, and all personal health questions should be directed to the health care professionals who know you and your medical history. So, please do not be offended if you do not receive a direct answer to your e-mail. We will use the topics suggested in these communications to add additional content to the site periodically, and we will welcome your comments and ideas about other subjects on which you’d like additional information.

Sincerely,
